The third asthmatic we want to highlight is Ludwig Van Beethoven (1770 – 1827), one of the most recognized composer and pianist of all time.

Beethoven’s life was not easy. He suffered from a lot of illnesses, including several asthma.

Even the best doctors were unable to help him with his asthma management. At that time, one of the most popular prescribed treatments for asthma was tobacco smoke! That’s hard to believe, don’t you think? It is unsurprising that his health didn’t improve.

The only treatment that should have helped him was drinking coffee, which is still used nowadays because of its bronchodilator properties.

Random facts:

Did you know that Beethoven often dipped his head in cold water before composing?
And that he also played violin and organ?
